Elazari-Volcani (Volkani; Wilkanski; Wilkansky), Yitzhak Avigdor

   Israeli agronomist. He was born in Lithuania and settled in Palestine in 1908, where he became one of the leaders of the Ha-Poel ha-Tzair party. He founded and directed workers' farms at Ben Shemen and Hulda from 1909 to 1918, and in 1921 he established the Agricultural Experiment Station at Ben Shemen. He was appointed professor of agricultural economics at the Hebrew University in 1938.
